Documentary - Northern California Premiere!Operation Filmmaker Starring: Muthana Momed, Liev Schreiber
No good deed goes unpunished.
This is a fascinating story of how well-intentioned American filmmakers and celebrities try to intervene in the life of an Iraqi. And how nothing goes according to hopes, expectations or plans. After the 2003 invation of Iraq, MTV aired a documentary about Muthana Mohmed, a twenty-five-year-old Baghdad film student with a winning smile and indominitable spirt, whose film school had been bombed to bits. American actor Liev Schreiber saw the piece while preparing to direct his first film. Feeling guilty for having so much opportunity while someone else had none, Schreiber invited Muthana to join the production of EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED in the Czech Republic. The rest, as they say, is history.
