Two-time Academy Award nominee Shirley Knight gives a powerful performance as an older woman struggling to hold on to any conception of living a normal life. Newcomer Liz Jahren is a knockout in this darkly comic drama about an embittered daughter who must deal with her mother's rapid descent into Alzheimer's. The role is extremely challenging and Jahren, working with husband and wife filmmaking team Wayne and Susan Boyer, just nails it. Through painful experience all too recognizable for most of us, Jahren's character learns that, in order to have unconditional love, one must love unconditionally. Shot entirely last summer in Geyserville.
