Documentary - West Coast Premiere!
Mr. Dial Has Something to Say

 Starring: Thornton Dial

Racism and classism in the elite world of the American visual arts.

Celia Carey's one-hour high-definition documentary explores the topic of racism and classism in the elite world of the American visual arts, focusing on the experiences of Thornton Dial, a 79-year-old 'self-taught' artist from rural Alabama.  We ride along with an enlightened and adventurous caucasian art dealer as he criss-crosses the southern back-country discovering an artistic tradition and fascinating artists and art works that the mainstream art-going public has never seen.  Thornton Dial becomes the poster-child for these artists as a show is planned to introduce this work to the "establishment".
